Abstract

This article highlights one of the most important intersections between the roles of the legislator, the judge, and legal scholarship, namely the definition of legal concepts. It re-examines the role and limits of each actor in shaping legal definitions, adopting Professor Abdul Latif Hedayat Allah’s position, which challenges the view that confines this task to doctrine alone. It also underlines the pivotal importance of legislative definitions as a prerequisite for clarity and quality in legal texts.
