The Legal Evidentiary Value of Blockchain in Proof

Abstract

This article examines the evidentiary value of blockchain records as a form of digital proof. It clarifies how distributed ledger technology can support integrity, traceability and time‑stamping, and discusses the legal conditions for admissibility and probative force (authentication, reliability, chain of custody and expert assessment) within Moroccan law and comparative approaches. The paper highlights practical challenges related to identity verification, privacy, governance of permissioned networks, and judicial understanding of technical evidence, and proposes safeguards to strengthen the use of blockchain in litigation.
