Abstract
This article examines research efforts aimed at analyzing and dismantling colonial narratives that reinforced Western dominance through cultural representation. It presents postcolonial studies as a set of analytical tools for uncovering cultural and identity biases embedded in literary texts and historical narratives. The study focuses on the need to restore recognition to narratives marginalized by Western centrism, especially the case of Mustafa Al-Azmouri, known as Estevanico, whose exploratory role was reduced to a secondary position in Western narratives despite his contribution to the exploration of regions in the southern United States.
