Abstract
This book review presents the Arabic translation of Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca's report on the Narvaez expedition and the discovery of America with Mustafa Estebanico. It highlights the historical, literary, and ethnographic value of the text, which documents encounters with Indigenous peoples of North America during early Spanish explorations. The review situates the work in its colonial context, discusses the history of its translations, and emphasizes the importance of the recent Arabic edition translated and introduced by Abd al-Qadir Jamoussi. It also underlines how the narrative sheds light on survival, cultural mediation, and the role of Estebanico in early accounts of the New World.
