Abstract
This study analyzes freedom as a central theme in José Eusebio Chirino Camacho's novel Estebanico: A Black Man in the Conquest of Florida. It focuses on the protagonist Estebanico, or Mustafa Azemmouri, and his struggle with values such as freedom, friendship, and integration. Organized around the historical context, the main events, freedom as a central theme, and the hero's moral dilemmas, the article shows how the novel represents the contradictions of survival and the pursuit of liberty.
