Abstract

This article is a detailed introduction to a play which Domenico Badia Leblich wrote about Morocco in 1803 under the pseudonym of Ali Bey Al-Abbasi. It will deal with the mask and the ideological knowledge it implies to achieve ready-made results. All this is achieved through language and theatricalization, which require a fictional structure concealing the writer’s identity and the identity of the discourse inner circle where the political, the historical and the cultural are interwoven. The article will examine this issue through the biography of Domenko Badia the spy, and his biography in which he chose to disguise himself as Ali Bay al-Abbasi; then through the masked imagination, which is part of the writing disguise and the techniques of concealment and symbolism.
