Abstract

There are words of Berber origin in all the dialects of North African Arabic. Its entry into Arabic is not limited to a single period, as some of them entered in the first Hegirian centuries and then spread with the spread of Arabic in the region, and others remained in use among the inhabitants of a particular region after being Arabised. later. The aim of this article is to identify the oldest of these vocabularies, according to the criteria of geographical distribution, genetic distribution, historical distribution and self-composition. This study shows that some of the earliest Amazigh vocabulary in Maghreb vernacular Arabic focused on the domains of nature and domestic life.
