Abstract

Today, the world, as well as our practices, has changed as a result of the Covid19 pandemic. Since the onset of the lockdown, digital communication has established itself, more than ever, as an essential means to sustain contact with others and perform our responsibilities through teleworking. Such digital communication has grown into a considerable information flow, occasionally generating fake news which spreads widely and fast. In this article, we intend to make salient the relationship between the digital communication and the propagation of fake news in its aspect of propaganda or conspiracy, with the objective of highlighting the impact of these two factors on the lives and behaviour of Moroccans during the lockdown period caused by Covid'19 pandemic. Specifically, our objective is to map out the spread of fake news on social media and track its effect on Moroccans. Likewise, the aim is to study whether the social networks have jeopardized the classical media expected to inform and raise awareness. Our article is based on a quantitative study conducted at the end of the lockdown period.
