Abstract
The proverb is certainly the statement that best reflects the relationship between the interlocutors and their society. Dissecting it will lead us to understand its different components. Certainly, the words that compose it are drawn from the core lexis of Moroccan speech. However, the arrangement that one makes of it is always subjected to societal and cultural values. The presence of the words referring to parts of the body does not go unnoticed since this kind of lexicon is part of the construction of the proverbial meaning. What are the names of the parts of the body that are legion? What is the importance of "metonymy" in the proverb? What added value can we derive from these proverbial expressions through the presence of this trope? These are all questions that are the focus of this article.
