Abstract
This article analyzes how Michel Butor, in his novel La Modification, employs the verb and the use of the second-person plural (“you”) to revolutionize the romanesque genre. By abandoning traditional narrative forms, Butor places the reader at the center of the narrative process and transforms the relationship between narration, subjectivity, and linguistic structure.
