Diathesis and voice in Moroccan Arabic, the case of passive, middle and causative

Abstract

In this analysis, we will describe the relation between the diathesis and the voice in moroccan arabic. Our aims are to distinguish between these two categories that intervene in the semantico-syntactic description of the verb. We will first define each of them, then, based on recent reflections made on these two notions, we will identify the relation of interdependence between them by specifying what the diathesis and what the voice. Subsequently, we will give a description of the verb according to the different voices and diatheses that it can realise by establishing, at first, the relation between the active voice and the basic diathesis of the verb, and in a second time, by describing the voices and diathesis that modify the organisation of the basic structure of the verb in MA, in particular the passive, the middle and the causative.
