Abstract
This article focuses on the impact of linguistic representations and French language skills on the academic and professional trajectory of students at the Moroccan university. The objective is to study how these two variables appear, interact, and influence students’ academic and professional success. To do so, we rely on an analysis of the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among a sample of students from the Faculty of Sharia in Agadir, part of Ibn Zohr University. The results show that students’ linguistic representations of French often convey negative images and that their level of proficiency in the language generally remains limited, which in turn affects their overall trajectories.
