OK and Well: Their Relevance to the Structure of Talk in the Classroom

Abstract

This paper investigates the discourse functions of OK and Well in classroom talk, focusing on their role in initiating repairs and structuring teacher-student interaction. Drawing on data from the American Language Center in Rabat, the analysis shows that both particles serve as linking devices between the trouble-source stage and the repair stage of discourse.
