Between Prometheus and Dik al-Jinn: On Male-Centrism and the Erasure of the Feminine

Abstract

This article draws a comparative parallel between Prometheus from Greek mythology and Dik al-Jinn from Arabic literary tradition, exploring how both figures embody male-centric worldviews and the structural erasure of the feminine. The study examines fire as a symbolic element and analyses how patriarchal systems marginalise women through literary and mythological representation.
