Abstract
This historical study examines land practices and the notion of possession (qabd) in the Tunisian region of al-Basāsiyya between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. It highlights how customary practices, documentation, and local power relations shaped access to land and the legitimacy of rights over time.
